"The Power of Knowing":
Training on the Rights of Pregnant Roma Women in Bulgaria
Free trainings dedicated to the reproductive and patient rights of pregnant women in Bulgaria with a special focus on supporting women of Roma origin.
What's Coming Up?
The trainings are built on discussions, role-playing tasks and practical exercises that address key topics, including:
-
Women's and human rights during birth and pregnancy.
-
Informed agreement – what it is, when it is given and when it can be withdrawn.
-
Care with respect and dignity – without offencesm violence or humiliation.
- Autonomy – you participate in your own pregnancy and childbirth plan.
-
Access to information and abilities to ask questions.
-
The right to assistant and emotional support.
-
Post-partum care and breastfeeding – what adequate help means.
-
Recognising discrimination and action against violated rights.
-
Mental health and emotional well-being.
Why this training matters?
Because knowing your rights is the first step towards security, justice and good health practices. Our goal is for every woman to feel more confident and prepared, to have real tools and to be able to participate in the birth process together with the medical team - as an active and respected partner.
The project is implemented with the support of the Sofia Platform Foundation under the PROTEUS program.
